The Life Of A Doctor 一名医生的生活

A British Medical Journey survey in 2001 found the 60% of doctors around the worl report being unhappy or very unhappy. If students were to understand better what life as a doctor entails, would this reduce the number of unhappy doctors.
Every year, when high school examination results are announced, we hear many enthusiastic, idealistic young minds announcing their intention to take up this noble calling; yet we read so many disparaging comments about doctors and hospitals in the letters section of the daily newspaper. If students know about what the life of a doctor is really like, they can have a better idea whether to take up medicine or what branch of medicine to pursue. Hopefully, this will produce happier doctors consequently leading to better healthcare delivery for the community.

The intention of this book - to try to shed light on this dark unknown road for the student, their parents and the recently graduated doctor. It is not our intention to discourage the traveller, nor should we glorify the places one passes by along this road. By describing what we know lie to be as practising doctors, we may be showing medical students and young doctors what their own life might be, and hope they will be better able to decide if this is the road they really wish to travel on.
